Legacy
Why a 2026 web-dev blog carries a name from the mid-2000s — and what we owe it.
MochiKit was a well-loved JavaScript library from the mid-2000s — 'MochiKit makes JavaScript suck less' was the tagline — that helped a generation write friendlier front-end code. This blog carries the name forward as a tribute; it isn't the original library or its documentation, just a place that shares its love of good JavaScript.
"MochiKit makes JavaScript suck less"
That was the tagline — cheeky, precise, and true. In an era before the frameworks, MochiKit gave front-end developers async deferreds, DOM helpers, sortable tables, and a standard library that felt humane.
What we are
This site continues the spirit, not the source. We're an independent blog about modern JavaScript, TypeScript, frameworks, the back end, tooling, and learning the craft. We kept the name because it stands for something we still believe in: that good JavaScript is a pleasure, and that the tools should make it more so.
What we are not
We are not the original MochiKit library, its maintainers, or its documentation. Nothing here is an official continuation of that project. If you're looking for the historical library, seek out its original archives — this is an affectionate nod, kept alive by people who learned from it.
The name is a tribute. The opinions, code, and mistakes are entirely our own.
